RKP Access Platforms was formed in May 2011 by Paul Hunwick, son of the late Ronald Hunwick and brother of the late Keith Hunwick, founders of E.S. Access Platforms. E.S. Access was one of the leading access solution providers in the UK and was solely controlled by the family until 2008. Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances E.S. Access entered into administration two years after Keith passed away in 2008.

During the administration process Paul, his nephews Ian, Lee, Dean and his son James had to watch as 30 years of their family's hard work left Shadon Way in Birtley. The machines were selling for less than they were worth and Paul knew this. He decided that the only thing that could keep the spirit of the family alive was to save a small part of what was left. He purchased five of the remaining machines with the plan of beginning his own access company. Machines ranging from 12.5 to 22 metres would be the starting point for the yet to be named company. As you would expect Paul had his doubts but after much encouragement and reassurance he realised he was in good experienced hands. Between his three nephews and his son there was over 30 years combined experience, not to mention what Paul had learnt during a lengthy career in access.

Paul felt that he owed it to this brother and father to keep a part of their name within an industry they were passionate about. After toying with various ideas and suggestions he decided to keep it plain and simple:-

After so long in the industry with E.S. Access, Paul and his family are ready to continue to provide excellent, presentable and reliable access solutions to the North East of England.
